To secure a satisfactory return on high quality innovations generated within the research and development (R&D) sector in Croatia in line with the best practice in the E.U. Member States, thus fostering economic and social development.
Specific Objectives: To ensure a sustainable and self-supporting infrastructure enabling the R&D community in Croatia to make full use of intellectual property rights and the related commercial exploitation.

The CARDS Progamme “Intellectual Property Rights Infrastructure for the Research and Development Sector in Croatia” is comprised of three main components:
- Component 1 – Institutional and legal framework
- Component 2 – Targeted Training and Public Awareness
- Component 3 – Implementation in the R&D institutions- Pilot Project
Among the key R&D institutes that have been identified to be involved in the CARDS pilot project are the Brodarski Institute, the Ruđer Bošković Institute and the Faculty of Food Sciences and Biotechnology of the University of Zagreb.
