SAfA 2025 Conference in Faro

Sanja Horvatinčić will participate with a presentation titled “Concrete Liberation: The Materialisation of Global Socialism in post-independence Guinea-Bissau“ at the 27th Biennial Meeting of the Society of Africanist Archaeologists (SAfA 2025) in Faro, Portugal. The presentation will be held on July 23, 2025, as part of the thematic session „Archaeologies of the contemporary past in Africa.“ The invited presentation covers part of the results of field and archival research on the work of Yugoslav architects in Guinea-Bissau in the 1970s and 1980s, which was conducted in April 2024.
The conference takes place at the University of Algarve from July 21-26, 2025, under the main theme “Crossroads through Time.” The conference program is available here.
The conference participation is part of the DIGitART project – “Digital Network, Spatial and (Con)textual Analysis of 20th Century Art Phenomena and Heritage”.
