Laboratory of housing construction between East and West

Dr. sc. Tamara Bjažić Klarin will hold a public lecture entitled “Laboratory of Housing Construction between East and West: Yugoslav Architecture and UIA in the 1950s” on Thursday, 9 April 2026, starting at 6:00 PM at the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.

The lecture is part of the program by which Docomomo BiH marks the acquisition of the private archive of Hasan Ćemalović Ćema to the Archive of Modern Architecture of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lecture will be followed by a public discussion on the culture of the profession and the housing construction system of Socialist Yugoslavia between architects Hasan Ćemalović and Mladen Gvozden and civil engineer Berislav Buljan.

Tamara Bjažić Klarin's participation in this program is an activity carried out as part of the project Housing.Yu – The Right to Housing: The Production of Space for Everyday Life in Yugoslavia (1945–1991), which is being implemented at the Institute of Art History from 2025 to 2030, with the support of the European Research Council.
