Unruly Images: Visual Legacies of Antifascist Struggles

Research seminar that brings together Dr. Daniel Palacios González (UNED, Madrid) and Dr. Eric Ušić (University of Rijeka) will be held on Friday, 8 May 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

The Institute of Art History invites you to an international research seminar bringing together Dr. Daniel Palacios González (UNED, Madrid) and Dr. Eric Ušić (University of Rijeka), whose work centers on visual materials produced within antifascist and communist struggles that survived outside, or despite, official archival and heritage frameworks. From photographs and printed matter made by Spanish guerrilla fighters to political graffiti inscribed on Istrian walls during and after World War II, the two contributions ask what it means to work with such images and traces today — methodologically, theoretically, and politically.

The seminar will take place on Friday, 8 May 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Institute of Art History (Room 235, first floor), and will be conducted in English.
