International Colloquium Visualizing Antiquity V
Dr Ana Šverko participates in the international colloquium The Copy of the Copy … of the Copy. Techniques of Pictorial Reception of Antiquity in the Early Modern Period, the fifth meeting in the series Visualizing Antiquity. On the Episteme of Early Modern Drawings and Prints, to be held on 3 July 2026 in Berlin.
The colloquium is organized by the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) and the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte Munich and will take place in the Lise-Meitner Hall at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Unter den Linden 8). The event brings together international scholars in the fields of art history, architectural history, classical archaeology, and the history of knowledge, with a particular focus on the transmission and transformation of classical models in the early modern period.
The colloquium is organized within the framework of the academy project Antiquitatum Thesaurus: Antiquities in European Visual Sources from the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries, dedicated to the study of visual sources on antiquity and their role in the transmission of knowledge about the ancient world.
Ana Šverko will present a paper entitled The Copy of a Transformed Original. The Temple of Jupiter in Split and a Case of Graphic Transmission. The paper presents results of research conducted within the Croatian Science Foundation project TraveloguesDalmatia.
